Digital Reconstruction of an Historic Clock Tower
AOC was delighted to support the Inner Forth Landscape Initiative (IFLI) in the digital reconstruction of one of Grangemouth’s historic monuments. The clocktower sat atop the Town Chambers, near the busy dockyard in the town, until much of the building was damaged by fire. The tower was put into storage, and is one of the few physical remains of the Grangemouth Old Town. In May 2017, the clock tower fragments were temporarily moved to Zetland Park, where a group of local IFLI volunteers digitally recorded each piece through photogrammetry. A 3D model of each block was created and these were then stacked together to recreate the tower itself. You can watch a video of the reconstructed clocktower here.
IFLI is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. You can find out more about IFLI on the project website here.
