Rhind Lectures 2020: Neolithic Scotland with Dr Alison Sheridan

AOC is delighted to be sponsoring the prestigious Rhind Lectures once again. This year, the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland will host the lectures online between the 13th and 18th of December 2020.

From the time of the first farmers to the arrival of new people and ideas from the Continent, Neolithic Scotland was a period of great change.

Tune in to the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland’s most highly anticipated event of the year and travel back in time to experience Scotland over 5,000 years ago. In a series of six free online lectures, renowned archaeologist Dr Alison Sheridan will reveal the latest research on everything from how Neolithic Scottish society was organised, to what we can tell about the health, wealth and relationships of the communities who lived in Scotland from 4,100 BC to 2,500 BC.

Dr Sheridan is an expert on the Scottish Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age in their wider European context, specialising in pottery, stone axeheads, and jewellery of jet, faience and gold. She is a wonderful communicator and her passion for her subject always shines through. We look forward to these lectures with great anticipation!

The Rhind lectures are open to all and will premiere on the Society’s YouTube channel at 6pm every evening from Sunday 13 December. Plus, on Friday 18 December, viewers are invited to join the Society to watch the final lecture via Zoom, followed by a live Q&A with Dr Sheridan. We’ll also be raising a dram to toast the Society on its 240th anniversary.
