Catherine Edwards BA ACIFA

Operations Manager

Catherine has been a member of staff at AOC Archaeology for 11 years during which time she has progressed from field archaeologist  to Project  Manager. Overall Catherine has 15 years of fieldwork experience. During this time she has worked on large scale urban developments in London for  Museum of London Archaeology  and Wessex Archaeology, as well as rural sites across the country. Since joining AOC in 2003 she has directed both small and large-scale field projects such as the Fremlin Walk development in Maidstone, two RomanCemeteries in Southwark, a medieval and early post-medieval site at Hall Place Bexley and an archaeological investigation of the Harbour in Jamestown, St Helena.

Later as a Project Officer Catherine continued to nurture her interest in the day to day running of fieldwork projects but also gained experiece through more direct involvement with consultants and clients. As a Project Manager, Catherine is responsible for the management of a number of multi-phased projects for clients such as Tesco, Wates Construction and Barratt Homes. She has also played a key role in developing the company’s links with community archaeology groups. Catherine regularly gives talks on AOC projects to local historical and archaeological societies and has also appeared as a regular site supervisor on Time Team. Catherine is an active member of the Great War Archaeology Group (GWAG) which investigates archaeological remains dating to the First World War period. In her spare time Catherine is a site supervisor for an ongoing archaeological project in Jordan, working alongside the Jordan Antiquities Department and a local university, on sites relating to the Turkish-Arab/British conflict.
