Charlie’s archaeological career spans 30 years working for various commercial units throughout the UK. His experience covers sites ranging in date from the prehistoric to the post-medieval periods, including complex urban industrial sites. Charlie’s field experience has included linear schemes, quarry extensions, large commercial, housing, retail and business developments and renewable energy schemes. Since the mid 1990’s Charlie has managed and supervised large-scale infrastructure projects such as A1/M1 Lofthouse to Bramham Link Road in 1996. More recently Charlie assisted in the supervision of an Iron Age and Romano-British site during works on the Beverley Southern Relief Road and helped in the supervision of evaluations for HS2 works in Staffordshire. He has also run major investigations of medieval and post-medieval remains at the Fruit Market, Hull, and post-medieval metal working sites in Sheffield. 

In 2012 and 2013 Charlie was employed by Durham University on a Bronze Age tomb site in the UAE prior to the construction of the Ras al Khaimah by-pass. He also has experience of historic building recording undertaking photographic surveys. Charlie was an archaeological consultant for AECOM in Leeds from 2013 to 2015 where he completed desk-based assessments, photographic surveys, risk assessments and site visits. He has worked closely with clients, developers and local planning authorities. In 2017 Charlie took up the position of Project Manager for AOC’s York office. 

Charlie holds a First Aid Certificate and has SSSTS and CSCS certification.
