Dominic Barrett
Project Supervisor
Dominic has worked on a variety of projects across the UK as a commercial archaeologist after achieving a BSc Hons Archaeology and Geoscience from the University of Aberdeen. Before joining AOC full-time in 2020, he worked on a number of sites for the company on a temporary basis between 2018-2019, including the deep urban excavation at the Cowgate in Edinburgh, prehistoric excavations at Greenan, Ayrshire and a number of small and large infrastructure projects around Scotland.
Since joining AOC on a permanent basis, Dominic has worked on a wide variety of projects and site-types across Britain. This has included large infrastructure projects like the Dogger Bank Pipeline (East Riding), Maybole Bypass (Ayrshire) and Stour Park (Kent) as well as smaller monitoring works and evaluations around Scotland. Dominic has also taken part in a range of excavations across multiple time periods, including the Romano-British excavation at Grantham (Lincolnshire), the 18th – 19th century Glassworks at Leith (Edinburgh), the Iron Age wetland site at Hyndford (Lanark) and the Bronze Age upland platform site at Lee Burn (Cardrona), for which he has recently completed a publication on behalf of the Forestry Commission.
Dominic has taken part in the reporting process for multiple projects and has been involved in the planning and writing of method statements and WSIs. He also has knowledge of survey techniques, which he is currently developing whilst working on a large Scottish Infrastructure project.
