Gary joined AOC Archaeology in early 2020 after having worked for a variety of commercial archaeological units, predominantly in field work roles, since completing his degree at the University of York in 2006. These field work roles included five years spent on the Hungate Site in York, a complex multiphase excavation, and was also involved in regular programmes of community outreach and training. He is now primarily involved with consultancy projects throughout England (with some work in Scotland and Wales) undertaking research and walkover surveys and preparing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s), Desk-based Assessments (DBA’s) and Heritage Statements (HS’s). During this time he has also collaborated with and supported AOCs fieldwork department, both onsite and to provide post-excavation analysis and reporting, being most recently involved with the Doggerbank project.
