After achieving an MA in Archaeology and an MSc in Osteoarchaeology at the University of Aberdeen, Lizzie started working with AOC in 2021. Outside of her work with AOC she has worked with community groups involving test pitting with a Mesolithic projects, and excavation of a post medieval house. Additionally her work with the Northern Picts project has included working on Pictish faunal assemblages resulting in a publication for the project.

Lizzie has worked with AOC on a number of varied sites in both England and Scotland. These range in date from the Neolithic up to the Second World War. Each project has been different and has included both urban and rural excavation, as well as archaeological evaluation, machine monitoring and watching briefs. All of which have created a broad range of skills in excavation, recording, survey and reporting.

Since joining AOC, Lizzie has enjoyed working on a variety of sites and facets of archaeology, she has a particular interests in zooarchaeology, cremation studies, and resource management. In particular the study of animals in relation to power centres, which her undergraduate dissertation focused on. She is also interested in the importance of studying cremated remains in order to understand this elusive burial practise and its wider social implications.
