Project Manager

Rebecca graduated from Cambridge University in 2009 with a degree in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic, a subject which included study of the history, archaeology and languages of the British Isles from the end of the Roman period until the Norman Conquest. During and after her degree she took part in several seasons of community excavations in North Yorkshire and began her career in commercial archaeology in 2011. Rebecca worked in East Anglia initially and has been working in the North of England since 2015. Over the course of more than ten years in the field she has accrued experience of excavating a broad range of site types, ranging in time from the Neolithic to the post-medieval periods and including rural and urban sites.

Rebecca joined AOC York in February 2018 and is now a Project Manager. She enjoys operating as part of a dedicated team to deliver high quality archaeological projects both locally and nationwide. She has worked with clients and contractors within a range of environments including major infrastructure projects. Most recently, Rebecca has been involved with several sites across East Yorkshire including a large Roman open area excavation and multiple excavations as part of linear infrastructure project, revealing sites dating from the Iron Age to post-Roman periods.

Rebecca still has responsibility for directing large-scale excavations. She also manages fieldwork projects, compiles post-excavation reports, and creates site illustrations to a high standard. She has SMSTS and CSCS certification and is First Aid trained, and is skilled at managing sites to high standards of health and safety and staff welfare. Rebecca has an interest in Public Archaeology and is one of AOC York’s Community Champions.
