Thomas Howe

Archaeologist


Tom graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2018 with a BA in Archaeology and then went on to complete an MA in Funerary Archaeology at the University of York. Throughout university Tom developed a keen interest in early prehistory, the Early Medieval period and osteology, with specific focus on elite barrow burials of the Peak District.

During his time at university Tom participated in a number of excavations ranging from a Medieval cemetery in rural Cheshire and excavating within Bamburgh Castle. Tom started working for AOC Archaeology in 2020 and while working for AOC he has worked across England on sites that included archaeology from the Iron Age, Roman, Romano – British, Roman, and Anglo – Saxon periods. Tom has has worked on significant rural linear infrastructure schemes, including HS2, East -West – Rail (EWR), and the Dogger Bank Wind Farm A and B, in addition to open area excavations such as Lelley Road. While working for AOC Tom has also worked on urban excavations such as Rochester. Tom also has experience in post-ex work including writing reports.
